Terms and Conditions
These terms cover the ewa.tax website, the .EWA founding list and the activation code you receive for joining it. The .EWA app is not available yet; it will have its own terms when it launches.
Last updated 16 October 20261. Who we are and what these terms cover
ewa.tax is run by easywaytoaccounting Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number company number to be added, whose registered office is at registered office address to be added ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at hello@ewa.tax.
These terms apply to anyone who visits ewa.tax ("the website") and to anyone who joins the .EWA founding list ("the list"). Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how we handle personal data and what the website stores on your device; they do not form part of these terms.
The .EWA application ("the app") is in development. When it launches, using it will be subject to separate terms of service, which you will be asked to accept before you start. Nothing in these terms obliges you to use the app or to pay for it.
2. Using the website
You may use the website for your own information and to decide whether .EWA is right for you. You must not:
- use the website in a way that is unlawful, fraudulent or harmful, or that interferes with its operation or security;
- try to gain access to any part of the website, its servers or its data that is not meant to be public;
- submit the sign-up form using automated means, or on behalf of someone else without their permission;
- copy large parts of the website, or scrape, frame or republish it, without our written permission.
We aim to keep the website available and accurate, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it.
3. Tax information on the website
The website explains Making Tax Digital for Income Tax in general terms, including thresholds, start dates, deadlines and penalties. We check this information against HMRC's published guidance on GOV.UK, but rules and guidance change, and general information cannot take account of your circumstances. It is not tax, legal or financial advice. Before acting on it, check GOV.UK or speak to a qualified adviser.
The calculator on the website gives an indication based only on the figures you enter. Those figures stay in your browser; we do not receive or store them.
4. Joining the founding list
To join the list you must be 18 or over, live in the United Kingdom or have UK tax obligations, and give us accurate details. You may join once, in your own name.
Joining is free. We do not ask for payment details, and joining does not commit you to buying anything or create a subscription.
When you join, we will email you about your place on the list: your activation code, your invitation when the app opens to founding members, and anything important about the list or the code (for example, a change to these terms). If you tick the box to receive them, we will also send occasional progress updates about .EWA. You can stop progress updates at any time using the link in every email, without leaving the list.
You can leave the list at any time by emailing hello@ewa.tax. Your activation code is cancelled when you leave.
5. The founding activation code
Each founding member receives one activation code. These terms are the full conditions of that offer.
- What it gives you. Two months' free use of any paid individual .EWA plan, starting on the day you redeem the code in the app.
- When you can use it. From the day we email your invitation to the app. The code stays valid for at least 60 days after that email, and we will tell you the exact closing date in the invitation and remind you before it passes.
- After the two months. The code gives access to the app for two months only. When they end, your access to the app stops unless you have chosen a paid plan. Your free period does not turn into a paid plan automatically: before it ends, we will ask whether you want to continue, and you will only pay if you choose a plan and agree to its price and terms at that point. If you do not continue, you can still download your records for 90 days after your access ends.
- Restrictions. The code is personal to you. It cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for cash or credit, and it cannot be combined with any other offer unless we say so. One code per person.
- Misuse. We may cancel a code that was obtained through false details, duplicate sign-ups, automated sign-ups or another breach of these terms. We will tell you if we do.
- If the app does not launch. We cannot promise a launch date. If we decide not to launch the app, or to end the founding offer before it launches, we will tell you by email. The code will then have no value; because joining is free, no other compensation is due.
6. The app is in development
Everything the website says about the app, including its features, screens, prices and plans, describes what we are building and intend to offer. Features and prices may change before launch, and some may arrive later than others. Screens and figures shown on the website are examples.
HMRC recognition of .EWA's software is in progress. Sending updates and returns to HMRC through .EWA will only switch on once HMRC has approved the software. .EWA is software that helps you keep records and prepare submissions; it is not an accountant or tax adviser, and you remain responsible for what you submit to HMRC.
7. Intellectual property
The website, its design, text, graphics, video, code and the .EWA and Shield names and marks belong to us or our licensors. You may view the website and share links to it. You may not otherwise copy, adapt or use any of it without our written permission.
If you send us ideas or feedback about .EWA, you allow us to use them to improve the product without any obligation to you. We will not publish your name or details with them without asking.
8. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
If you use the website or join the list as a consumer, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable when you started using the website or joined the list.
If you use the website or join the list for the purposes of your business, then, to the extent the law allows: the website and the list are provided free of charge and without any guarantee as to accuracy, availability or fitness for a particular purpose; we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or opportunity, or for any indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability to you in connection with the website and the list is limited to £100.
We are not responsible for the content of other websites we link to, such as GOV.UK.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes in the law or in how the list works. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change materially affects founding members, we will email you before it takes effect, and you may leave the list if you do not agree. A change will not reduce the value of an activation code already issued, unless we are required to make it by law.
10. Ending your place on the list
We may remove you from the list and cancel your code if you break these terms in a way that matters, if the details you gave are false, or if we close the founding list. Unless we are prevented from doing so, we will tell you by email.
11. General
- These terms, together with any conditions we show on the sign-up form, are the whole agreement between you and us about the website and the list.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- If we delay or do not enforce a right under these terms, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, for example if our business is sold; your rights under these terms will not be reduced as a result. You may not transfer your place on the list or your code.
- Only you and we have rights under these terms. No one else may enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
12. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and you keep any protections that the law where you live gives you.
13. Questions and complaints
If something has gone wrong, or you have a question about these terms, email us and we will reply within 14 days.
