Connect your bank, or your spreadsheet once the bridge arrives this winter. .EWA keeps the books, the tax figure and the next quarterly update ready in the background.

Good morning, Sam
You’re on track.
Quarter 2 is sorted and checked. Send it to HMRC any time before 7 November. It’s an update, not a bill: nothing is paid when you send it.
Keep back for tax, so far
If the rest of the year goes like the first half, the whole year comes to £5,200 to £6,200, paid once, by 31 January 2028.
3 things to sort
Everything else sorted itselfOne tap each. .EWA remembers your answer for next time.
Your year with HMRC
Four updates, then your tax returnEach update covers your year so far. Every transaction is sorted and Shield has checked it. One tap sends it, and Bramley & Co look it over first.
Money in and out
Tax is worked out on all your income together: the joinery and your share of Flat 2.
Where the money goes
Costs that lower your tax, in HMRC’s groups, this tax year.
Mortgage interest on Flat 2 (£1,350, your share) isn’t a cost here. It gives you a 20% tax credit instead, already counted.
Shield
HMRC access, the right start year, every income source, quarter dates and more, checked before anything is sent.
Coming up
Proof HMRC has it
Quarter 1Example figures. Filing switches on once HMRC approves .EWA’s software. Your records are yours: download all of them, any time, from Settings.
A working demo with example figures. Click anything on the screen.
Transactions come in from your bank, each one is sorted by a written rule, and the quarterly update is built from the result.
What .EWA does, step by step.
Scroll through the app, screen by screen. The laptop at the top of the page is the one to click around in.
One status, one next step.
The first screen answers “am I OK?”: where the quarter stands, what to keep back for tax, and the two or three payments that need a one-tap answer.
Every payment, sorted by a rule you can read.
Each line shows the rule that put it there. Anything the rules can’t place waits under “Needs you”, with the reason. Answer once and .EWA remembers.
A running estimate of what you owe.
Income Tax and Class 4 National Insurance, worked out line by line from your records, with the dates you actually pay.
Eight checks before anything is sent.
HMRC access, the right start year, every income source, quarter dates and more. Small slips, like a personal coffee in your costs, are flagged with the reason.
Four short steps to send a quarter.
Check the figures as HMRC will see them, settle anything Shield found, choose whether your accountant looks first, then send.
Proof that HMRC has it.
.EWA checks with HMRC after five minutes and again after a day, and keeps a receipt of exactly what was received.

Keep using your spreadsheet.
Plenty of landlords and traders already keep good records in Excel. .EWA’s spreadsheet bridge will read the sheet you have, match each row to HMRC’s categories and send the update from there. HMRC’s rules don’t allow retyping figures between systems, so the link stays digital.
The spreadsheet bridge is in testing and arrives this winter.
Notifications only when something needs you.
A notification when a quarter is ready, when Shield flags a line, and when HMRC confirms it has your update.
